Corporation Edition Ships.
Would allow Modifiers of varying %'s for things such as armor, struct, shields,
Modifiers on tracking per level, etc. This would be like, "Get Black Avatar Certified to level 3, get 10% more armor on your Ibis - Black Avatar issue!"
This could be extended to slot configurations, IE, moving slots around, at possible penalties (more mid slots = less hit points, more high = less speed, more low = less grid?), basically I'm looking for a forumula where people would expend a VERY decent amount of time in research and configure ships like T1 ships to whatever.
To do this I would say you'd have to have the BPO, and create a skill. Then possibly figure out a level of components and make it as expensive to make as T2. This would curb the amount of ships. I suppose you could do it at the BPO level or the individual ship level.
I spose there could be two ways to do this. One would be a mechanics end, where you stick the ship back into factory, throw on whatever mods you want, takes 24 hours (whatever dependong on shiptype / size, I would recommend making it stack for quite a long time for every modification) plus whatever required materials. Maybe you'd have to buy extra liscencing from the factory to get it put on there.
Editing ships on the BPO end, would take a patent from a major empire (ultra expensive), and then also a research grant (covers 3/4 of ultra expensive to leave just very very expensive). Could be done without a grant, but you'd have to flip the bill. The research grant could be run through ISD and would just be an item you could carry in your cargo. This would be used at the research facility, and take, oh , depending on what modifications you made to said t1 ship would take X time (variable).
There would be a limit to how many slots you could add, grid you could add, etc, per ship size, (maybe 10%, and 1/2/3 for frig/cruiser/bs/ ?)
Mind you, costs would stack exponentially, so to get these ships to market to start selling them, you'd be better off focusing on one or two areas, not 10 areas, cause then it'll take 1-2 years to get your ship researched and re-designed.
Anybody think this is a good idea?
